La Jugada live at Søpavillonen

La Jugada is Sweden's hottest salsa band, bringing audiences an authentic taste of the pulsing rhythm and sensual dancing of Havana’s night life. Under the direction of the exceptionally talented Cuban pianist/trumpeter/composer Richard Ortega, the band performs original songs reflecting the heart and soul of Cuban salsa. La Jugada is a team of stellar musicians, both Cuban and Swedish, with CVs that read like a who’s who of Cuban and Swedish salsa bands.

La Jugada’s powerful sound has a base in 1990s timba but with an updated interpretation that weaves in the modern musical idioms and draws inspiration from classical Cuban genres, such as contradanza, and Afro-Cuban music styles, such as rumba. The music is intense, elegant and always danceable. La Jugada has released three demos that have already been featured on DJ compilations in Europe and made the top of DJs lists in Peru and even the salsa Mecca of Colombia!

With throbbing bass, electrifying piano rhythms and rich Afro-Cuban and funk percussion punctuated by the swing of the horns, Richard Ortega y La Jugada captivate audiences with their irresistible dance music that leaves no one sitting down.
